Food Assistance
Food assistance is critical for Sri Lanka, particularly for children, due to a combination of factors that pose a significant threat to their well-being. The country has faced recurring challenges such as natural disasters, economic instability, and the recent COVID-19 pandemic, which have left many families struggling to secure regular meals. Malnutrition rates among Sri Lankan children are concerning, affecting their physical and cognitive development. Insufficient access to nutritious food can lead to stunted growth, weakened immune systems, and hindered learning abilities, perpetuating a cycle of poverty. Providing food assistance not only addresses immediate hunger but also supports the long-term health and educational prospects of Sri Lanka's children, offering them a better chance at a brighter future and helping to break the cycle of poverty and malnutrition.

Our first project - we worked with the World Food Program USA to create a target fund for Sri Lanka. With the assistance of amazing donors (both Sri Lankans worldwide and other individuals), we were able to raise $25,000 for the WFP USA to provide critically needed food assistance.
We are raising money for the United Nations World Food Program USA - to provide food supplies to Sri Lanka. Individuals around the world can donate directly to the UN world food program. On average around the world, the World Food Program provides a meal for every $0.50. $75 can provide an emergency food box for a family of 5 for one month. Our project provided around 50,000 meals to needy children and women in Sri Lanka.
One Million Meals
We have expanded our food assistance efforts to provide One Million Meals in the next several years. See below for our efforts at Sustainable Community Food programs - further food assistance to Sri Lankan schools and other critical food needs.
Sustainable Food Communite
As part of our One Million Meals expansion, we are supporting a wonderful structure that has emerged in Sri Lanka - Sustainable Food Communities. Read more about them here.
